We have decided to have a Zoom Meeting on Christmas Day after The Queen. It will bring together all our members, many of whom will be alone and perhaps lonely on what should be a joyful family day. It’ll be fun too.
Hi Angela: We have instigated Familiarisation Sessions the day before a Zoom lecture to help those who are unused to Zoom. The Session is run by two committee members and we run it as a Zoom Meeting. This gives the attendees a chance to log on and become familiar with the video, audio and chat options. We also explain that the lecture will be a Zoom Webinar (although we may change that!) and that they won't be visible or audible, but can ask a question through the chat. We have also suggested through our Newsletter that those who are more familiar might like to ask those who are not to watch the lecture with them. Of course, at the moment, that's not possible in England, but I think in Wales you can now visit each other? Hope this helps.
Thank you, Florian, for this very useful session which I attended on behalf of the Mid Wales and Borders Arts Society. We are a very dispersed group so keeping in touch via Zoom is particularly important. We also have a Newsletter which goes out regularly with news ( eg our Marsh Award!)and reminds Members of lectures which they can log onto. In my Welsh class we use Breakout Rooms and the tutor selects who we are paired up with so there is some variety!I like the idea of using these for Dinner Parties etc but we do need to overcome the reluctance of some members to commit to Zoom. Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Thank you for joining the Town Hall discussion this morning. We hope you found it useful! I've uploaded some notes from the meeting which I hope gives you all some ideas for future digital socials.
Thank you to Michael Faarup from Stafford who has kindly put together a brilliant document with some ideas that might help you.
Hi: If any one is interested in the Real Trip we did to Dorney Court, Windsor, you can find it on past visits on our website. You might like to use the format for a visit in your area.
