    Watching lectures at home

    Dear All,

I am wondering how easy it will be for most of our members to connect to a streamed lecture. It is hard enough for me (65) but a lot of our members are older than this and might find it too challenging!! But it is a good idea to give it a go. I am afraid I could only hear snippets of Florian's words to us and no picture.

I think they will be able to follow a link directly to a lecture but I heard nothing today except a couple of comments by Florian alluding to no picture. I then saw a frozen picture of Florian. Keep trying! I am a total technophobe but this is the way forward for several reasons! Good luck for next time.

As long as it is simple, like just clicking on a link to Youtube, then I think most people could manage!

How many lecturers are willing to offer a lecture on line? Do you have a list yet?

Good afternoon, thank you for all your comments. Last Tuesday we hosted a Zoom trial lecture with Siân Walters which went well, I know my colleagues are looking into making the process as easy as possible. Have you had a look at the lectures currently available on Heni Talks- https://www.connected.theartssociety.org/forum/heni-talks/what-is-your-favourite-heni-talk Please let me know if I can help with anything further.

    Hi Elizabeth,

I think most of our members would find it quite difficult to use (and install) software such as Zoom. But, lectures on YouTube would be more straightforward, as we could email our members the link to the lecture, so they could watch it either live and interact with the lecturer or later at their convenience - like Florian's broadcast.

    Hi Isabel,

We are launching our first specially recorded talk on YouTube on the 7th, and then every fortnight. We are so pleased that our Lecturers have responded to willingly and creatively to the challenge, so I believe we have something for all levels of digital engagement. In the meantime, our colleagues at HENI Talks have great art short films which we hope to chat about with Members in one of our other Forums!

    Stay safe!

    Hi Florian,

That is fantastic! I'm sure our members will enjoy the talks once a fortnight.

    Keep safe.

Fantastic I am currently putting together a mailchimp to be mailed out on Tuesday 7th April (our lecture day) I am keen to promote Jacqueline Cockburn's lecture broadcast please confirm that I should direct my not so techy membership to The Arts Societie's YouTube channel in preference to connected.theartssociety web page - will you be emailing the entire membership before, if so when ? so I can refer to your mail. Thank you all great things going on, you are providing a positive light at this time. Lynda

Hello Lynda, thank you for your kind words! Jacqueline's lecture will be added to this website (connected.theartssociety.org) on 7th April. A Monthly Highlights e-newsletter will go out to all Members that day notifying them of the new site and the lecture. Isabel

I thoroughly enjoyed the in-depth discussion of Las Meninas Velasquez. I think the video clip of this length is well suited to in depth explorations. Thank you

It's really wonderful to join the Lectures at Home and I thoroughly enjoyed Sarah Dunant's "Dressed or undressed" and "Las Meninas" by Jacqueline Cockburn. What a pleasure to see them relaxed in their armchair in their home and for us only to enjoy their wide culture in our Parisian home!

We had a very successful Zoom lecture with Sian Walters last week and over 90 members logged in either to the live lecture or the "repeat". We are waiting for detailed feedback as what our members thought of this format.
