This is a forum space to discuss Marc Allum's lecture The Anatomy of Collecting at Home - available from 11am 2nd June on The Arts Society Connected site.
My son bought me a poster many years ago, It is a very glamorous lady (cartoon) the caption is "Housework? Sweep the room with a glance" Well worth it I have watched all 4 lectures 3/4 times.
What a good lecture. Wonderful to look forward to and a great listen. Then as a bonus can look and listen again a few days later. Wish it was a permanent situation after lockdown! Thank you again. I have nothing of value but feel much better about my cluttered house.
Thank you so much for a terrific lecture , given with such enthusiasm .A joy to listen to. What a passion ! Loved it . your house looks like a treasure trove .🤗
Very interesting lecture - thank you Marc. Your enthusiasm for these objects and the 'backstories' for them really made this talk very interesting. Another lecture please...
Thank you Marc, for a fascinating talk...your enthusiasm, knowledge and love for historic and beautiful things was so interesting and enjoyable. Your professional delivery was a joy. More please!
Just seen Marc Allum's latest lecture on Collecting at Home - brilliant. I shall be doing my best, after lockdown, to get my local Society to invite him to talk to us.
I was also fascinated with the views of his house with so many treasures - does he ever do guided tours?
Hello Margaret, many thanks for your kind words. I'd be delighted to come and speak to you all. Guided tours with small groups perhaps, would be good fun!
This has been a real treat - very many thanks. It's so interesting to see these pieces in the context of a delightfully distracting personal collection which ranges from Grand Tour to Duty Free.
Another superb talk, this time by Marc Allen. Now to look into the artist and visit the Chichester Pallant gallery and Newport church. Thank you for this fascinating talk.
Thanks for your kind words Anne. Newport Civic Centre is well worth a visit. The building is impressive and the murals by Hans are a superb example of his rarer secular work. All best, Marc
Brilliant talk in which Marc conveyed his love of history. Did not catch the full name of the artist Hans for which you described the wonderful painting.
