San Francisco

When Phileas Fogg arrived in San Francisco in 1872, a local 9-year old boy was embarking on his first tour of Europe. That boy was William Randolph Hearst, destined to become one of the most influential figures in early 20th century history. Join Mark Meredith as he takes us on a tour of Hearst's three sumptuous properties in California - notably Hearst Castle at San Simeon, now a National Historic Landmark - giving us a window into the extraordinary life of the world's first media magnate who lavished his millions on his insatiable appetite for art, antiques, and castles.
