Hi everyone
This is Mary Neale, Visits Secretary of The Arts Society Falmouth, welcoming you to this new forum where you can chat to other members, and share your comments and suggestions.
First of all, I do hope you are all well and managing to survive at this difficult time. As you will know, our recent Society Newsletter included a section called Keeping the Brain Working which contained information about a wide range of free material about the Arts available either on-line or on TV. One of my aims on this forum will to be add any other interesting items like this these which I come across, and I hope you will all do the same. Also, if you have tried any of the sites listed in Keeping the Brain Working and enjoyed them, please share this with us on this site. The odd art related joke would also be welcome!
To start things off today I want to tell you about The Guardian’s art quizzes. The Guardian newspaper has a very strong coverage of the Arts generally and articles can be accessed via a search engine (eg Google) free of charge. It is currently running a daily art quiz set by national and regional museums and galleries. If you enter ‘Guardian Great British Art Quiz’they will all appear, including one on Cornish art set by the Penlee Gallery. Despite visiting the gallery frequently, and attending many of Cath Wallace’s lectures, I only managed to score 5 out of 8. No doubt, many of you will be able to do better than that!
Please do use this forum to keep in touch with the Committee and all members during this time when we are unable to meet in person. Please remember though, that this is a public site and so don’t include personal details (that includes email addresses). Also do not send any material that you think may be infringing UK copyright.
Best wishes and stay safe
Mary
It's great to have a platform where members can share their thoughts, comments, and suggestions during this time bitlife when we can't meet in person. I'm looking forward to seeing what other members have to say and learning from their experiences.
