In the hope that the weather may be kind to us this weekend you might be interested
in visiting. East Court, East End Road, Charlton Kings GL53 8QN is a garden on 2 levels. The upper garden around the 1806 house (not open) is traditionally styled with formal beds and lawns and three majestic purple beech trees some 200 years old. The 2½ acre lower garden now 4 years old is in complete contrast. Winding brick paths lead through swathes of herbaceous plantings towered over by arching datisca, miscanthus and paulownia. Along a high, S-facing wall, we are experimenting successfully with less hardy plants, spiced up with a scattering of exotic annuals. The new pond has attracted a wide range of aquatic wildlife. It is open on Sun 29, Mon 30 Aug (10-6). Admission £7, Children free. Home-made teas. Times:10:00 to 18:00. Open for charity NGS). You will need to book by using their website:
Another garden you might like to visit is Bourton House, Moreton in March (open Tuesdays to Saturdays) - there is no need to book.
All we need now is some sun to enjoy our beautiful country!
