      Lecture Website
      Discussion
Good morning everyone I just occurred to me as I started to think about a lecture I am going to "attend" this morning that some of you might not have found this lady. Stella Grace Lyons offers a really good lecture, with some wonderful slides. She is very articulate and well worth listening/watching. This morning, for instance, I am learning more about Joseph Wright of Derby and next Tuesday, early evening, I will be learning more about Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Best wishes Bridget

Architecture and Planning of Late-Georgian Spa Towns
      Discussion
Good morning I was passed details of this talk by Adrian Barlow on behalf of Friends of the Wilson here in Cheltenham and I thought it might appeal to some of you. "The Friends of The Wilson have organised four online morning lectures between now and April, and during this lockdown period we shall be pleased to welcome members of other societies to attend any or all of these Zoom talks (at our standard fee of £5 per talk). Full details can be found on the Events pages of the Friends’ website , but we’d like to draw your attention in particular to the first of these talks, scheduled for Monday 18 th January, at 10.30am: Cheltenham was one of the most successful and fastest-growing leisure resorts of the late Georgian era.  This talk will discuss its development, and that of other spa towns, as they responded to changing patterns of leisure and architectural fashion, drawing attention to their most important buildings and to their distinctive urban landscapes, still among the most attractive in Britain. The speaker, Dr Geoffrey Tyack, FSA, FRHistS, is an emeritus Fellow of Kellogg College, and a member of the Faculty of History at Oxford University.  He is the author of several books and articles on architectural history, among them  Oxford: an Architectural Guide  (1998), and is the editor of the  Georgian Group Journal ." Here is a link to the page Adrian refers to. https://www.friendsofthewilson.org.uk/events/ Best wishes Bridget
